The manager of the San Francisco Mime Troupe had an idea back in 1965 to hold a concert to benefit the troupe. The manager was Bill Graham and, on Nov. 6, 1965, Bill put on his first concert. It was a show at the Calliope Ballroom in San Francisco.

Music for the benefit concert / dance / ‘appeal’ party was provided by the Jefferson Airplane.

Bill liked doing the event and decided to do some more. 52 years ago tonight.

How many of you were ever at a concert promoted by Bill Graham?
