On Nov. 9th of 1961, Liverpool record store owner Brian Epstein, after having had people ask for their record, went to the local Cavern Club to see the lunchtime show by a band he’s heard a lot about… The Beatles.

After thinking about it for a while, he would become their manager. And things moved fast. 2 years later to the day in 1963, The Beatles’ new single, “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” became the first-ever UK single to receive advance orders of one million copies.

Yes Brian, it was a good way to spend your lunch break.
