Television was a lot of fun to watch when there were only 3 channels in most cities (4 counting PBS). As soon as the new issue of TV Guide was out, you check your favorite shows to see if anybody “cool” was going to be on.

Very few shows were live. They were taped a few days earlier, edited (some censored) and then aired.

On Nov. 15, 1968, one of the best shows on, The Smothers Brothers taped their show to be aired on Nov. 17th. The show featured Dion, a new singer named Jennifer Warren, and Donovan. During the opening scene, one of Donovan’s friends came out to talk with Dick and Tom. Donovan’s friend was George Harrison.

This clip is a great time capsule of the day. Anybody remember seeing this?
