Jimi Hendrix / The Jimi Hendrix Experience played their first gig in London on Nov. 25, 1966 at The Bag O’ Nails pub. Word of Jimi’s playing had preceded the show and it was the place to be that night. The audience included Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Jeff Beck.

The show was put on by his manager Chas Chandler, the former bass player in The Animals, who had discovered Hendrix in New York. The show was a showcase to ‘launch’ Hendrix’s career on the London scene.
