On Nov. 26, 1968, Cream played their last concert (not counting the reunion) at London’s Royal Albert Hall. There was a movie made of the “farewell tour” but by most accounts is wasn’t a very good film about the band. Ginger Baker said about the film, “We were so much better than that”. The opening artists for the evening were a little known band called Yes and a guitar player named Rory Gallagher.

When the show was over and Cream was leaving the stage, the audience started chanting “God Save The Cream.”

49 years ago tonight.
