The Beatles released the “Magical Mystery Tour” album in the US on Nov. 27, 1967. It would be released in Dec. in the UK as a double EP. Produced by George Martin, both versions include the six-song soundtrack to the 1967 film of the same name. Capitol Records had compiled an eleven-track LP through the addition of songs from the band’s 1967 singles.

Despite widespread media criticism of the ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ film, the soundtrack was a critical and commercial success and a number one Grammy-nominated album in the US.

The album included the songs “Magical Mystery Tour”, “I Am The Walrus”, “Hello Goodbye”, “Strawberry Fields Forever”, “Penny Lane”, “Baby You’re a Rich Man”, “All You Need is Love” and others.

In a way it is kind of a greatest hits album of itself.

Do you remember the first time you heard this record?

Happy 50th Birthday to the LP “Magical Mystery Tour”!!
