The Who were scheduled to play a concert at Cincinnati’s Riverfront Coliseum on Dec. 3, 1979. The show was a general or ‘festival’ seating show which meant there were no reserved seat. First in would get to be right up by the stage if thats what you wanted.

When the doors to the show were opened the crowd started what would be called a stampede and 11 people died as a result.

There are so many to remember now. RIP to all.

That show changed the way many concerts were done. Were any of you at this show 38 years ago today? And, how many of you have been to concerts where the ‘general seating’ idea led to bad results?
