The J. Geils Band released their 11th LP “Love Stinks” on Jan. 28, 1980. The title song, “Love Stinks” was a rant against unrequited love. (That’s what an old review said). It was covered by @Joan Jett in the film Mr. Wrong and Adam Sandler in the movie The Wedding Singer. The song was also heard in a series of Swiffer commercials.

The single of “Love Stinks” only reached #38 on the charts. The album, was the bands third biggest seller behind “Bloodshot” which went to #10 in 1973 and “Freezeframe” which went to #1 in 1981.

How often do you crank up something by J. Geils?

Happy 38th Birthday to the LP “Love Stinks”!!
