Fleetwood Mac is 50 years old……well at least their first LP is.

They were a different band back then. 2 of the same members as their most popular lineup, but a different sound.

On Feb. 24, 1968, Fleetwood Mac, released their debut album titled simply “Fleetwood Mac”. It is also known as “Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.” The album is a mixture of blues covers and originals penned by guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer, who also shared the vocal duties.

This album brought the band overnight success. Well in the UK at least. The album reached No. 4 and stayed on the charts 37 weeks, despite the lack of a hit single. In the US, the album barely made the charts in the US, reaching No. 198. The band wouldn’t have any real chart success until 1975 with the release of their other album titled “Fleetwood Mac” which is also know as ‘The White Album’ (not to be confused with The Beatles’ “White Album”).

For those of you familiar with the two different sounds of Mac, which do you prefer?

Happy 50th Birthday to Fleetwood Mac’s debut LP “Fleetwood Mac”!!!
