Styx released their 11th LP “Kilroy Was Here” on this day in 1983. The title came from a famous World War II graffito “Kilroy was here”. It was the final album of original material to be released by the classic Shaw/Panozzo/Panozzo/Young/DeYoung lineup of the band. It was also the last LP by the band to be certified platinum.

The band did a live, almost broadway style show for their concerts to support the record. It was not very well received. If you see the VH1 “Behind The Music” episode on Styx, you will see their former promotion guru Jim Cahill describe the shows in Texas.

However, the song (Domo Arigato)”Mr. Roboto” lives a life of its own to this day.

Happy 35th Birthday to “Kilroy Was Here”. Unfortunately, there are some who refer to this LP as “Kill Styx”.
