It was kind of a ‘hometown girl does good’ event.

On May 25, 1973, Carole King played a free concert in New York City’s Central Park. It was one of the first public things she did since the birth of her child and the wild success of her LP “Tapestry”. The concert only had about 100,000 of her closest friends show up.
