It was on this day, back in the summer of 1979, that many people first heard the words (kinda) “M-m-m-my Sharona.” It was on that day that The Knack released their debut LP “Get The Knack.”

The LP got an incredible amount of airplay and was a favorite in many clubs that were starting to get away from Disco. At the time, the album was one of the most successful debuts in history, selling over one million copies in less than two months and spending five weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. The lead single from the album, “My Sharona”, was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks and number one on Billboard’s Top Pop Singles of 1979 year end chart.

Besides “My Sharona”, the song “Good Girls Don’t” which went to #11 in the US and #1 in other countries, got a lot of play and probably ended up getting a few people in ‘trouble’.

Remember the first time you heard something from this LP?

Happy 39th Birthday to “Get The Knack”!!!
