Alice Cooper (the band) released their sixth LP “Billion Dollar Babies” on Feb. 25, 1973. The album became the best selling Alice Cooper record at the time of its release, hit number one on the album charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The album was well received by such critics as Robert Christgau, Greg Prato of AllMusic, and Jason Thompson of pop matters. As would be expected, Rolling Stone only gave the album two and a half stars.

Alice and the rest of the band were surprised at how big they had become and that influenced the LP’s title. Alice has said “How could we, this band that two years ago was living in The Chambers Brothers basement in Watts, be the number one band in the world, with people throwing money at us.

Besides AC guitarists Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce, Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter were brought in to cover any little problems.

How many of you still put this LP on every now and then?

Happy 45th Birthday to “Billion Dollar Babies”!!!!
