The Association – Along Comes Mary

Written by on May 28, 2018

When the song “Along Comes Mary” first came out, very few people realized it was referring to marijuana. It was a topic of discussion, but in the end, yes it was.

On May 28,1967, The Association (who in case you didn’t know recorded the song) made their television debut, on the Smother’s Brothers Comedy Hour. And they performed “Along Comes Mary.”

It is a well known fact that the Smothers Brothers knew exactly what the song was about, but didn’t let on to the network exec’s.

Wonder why?

Remember this song? And any of you remember seeing them on the show? FYI, The band used the same introduction here as they would use a few weeks later at The Monterey Pop Festival.

Now sing along if you can….
