The Crystals – Da Doo Ron Ron (HQ)

Posted from the web by on June 8, 2018

On June 8, 1963, The Crystals’ song “Da Doo Ron Ron” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Pop chart. The effort is the brain child of Phil Spector, who uses a multi-track recording system to build the song layer upon layer to achieve a result that will become known as a “wall of sound”.

Now here’s the cool part. The studio musicians who played on this recording included Glen Campbell on guitar, Hal Blain on drums, Leon Russell on piano and Nino Tempo on sax.

Long before the term ‘supergroup’ was ever used. 55 years ago….
