By the beginning of June in 1974, The Beach Boys were nowhere near as popular as they once had been. They had a new record label, but that hadn’t done much for them.

On June 24 of 1974, their former label, Capitol Records decided to release another ‘greatest hits’ LP. But they did it a little different. Instead of calling the album “The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Vol 3”, they called it “Endless Summer”. It worked. The album became the #1 records in the country and it stayed on the Billboard charts for 155 weeks.

The Beach Boys were back. And having ‘beach’ themed parties was the way to go that summer.

Any of you have a party that summer? Any of you planning one for this summer?
