June 27, 1971, was a sad day for many. Bill Graham closed the legendary Fillmore East, the New York version of his equally legendary San Francisco “rock ballroom.”
The Allman Brothers Band, The J. Geils Band, Albert King, The Beach Boys, Edgar Winter, Country Joe McDonald and Mountain (Leslie West Mountain) were on the bill for the final show.
The show was by invitation only.
47 years ago today. The end of a very historic chapter in the history of Rock and Roll.
How many of you went to at least one concert at the Fillmore East? Or should we say, how many of you remember going to at least one concert there?
