Cheap Trick – The Flame

Sometimes the record company is right….

When the new Billboard Top 100 Chart came out on July 9, 1988, Cheap Trick hit the #1 spot for the first and only time with the song “The Flame.” It would spend two weeks at the top.

When guitarist Rick Nielsen first heard the song, he hated it, so much so that he smashed the demo tape of it. But, to keep the record company happy, they recorded it.

We guess the song grew on them as well as the record buying public.

Really. “The Flame” is 30 years old?
