On July 25, 1966, The Rolling Stones started their US tour with a concert at The Hollywood Bowl in LA. The first picture shows the band playing onstage there. If you will notice, there is a sign behind them that says “No Swimming.” It was a rule that was strictly enforced.
On Sept. 18, 1968, Jimi Hendrix played The Hollywood Bowl. We guess they must have taken the “No Swimming” sign down by then. The 2nd picture shows Hendrix on stage at The Bowl, with audience members in the pool. Not really swimming, but…..
In those days, the legendary Hollywood Bowl really had a pool in front of the stage. Needless to say, it’s now long gone. Any of you remember going to shows there when the pool was still there?
