Many of you first heard "Oh Mama I'm fear for my life from the long arm of the law" 40 years ago today….
On Sept. 1, 1978, Styx released their eighth album, "Pieces of Eight". Like the band's previous album, The Grand Illusion, it managed to achieve triple-platinum certification, thanks to the hit singles "Sing for the Day", "Blue Collar Man" and "Renegade". ( and a good promotion guy).
The band members produced and recorded the album at Paragon Studios in Chicago with recording engineer Barry Mraz and mixing engineer Rob Kingsland. "I'm O.K" was recorded at Paragon and St. James Cathedral. This would be the last album to be produced at Paragon Studios.
Do you remember what you thought of this LP when you first heard it?
Oh Mama, Happy 40th Birthday to "Pieces of Eight"!!!!
