RUSH released their fifth LP "A Farewell to Kings" on Sept. 1, 1977. The album would become Rush's first US gold-selling album, receiving the certification within two months of its release, and was eventually certified platinum. After the success of this LP, their previous album "2112" took off and ended up selling more copies than "A Farewell".
Instead of using 'sound effect' records for the birds heard on the songs "A Farewell to Kings" and "Xanadu", they actually went outside the studios, set up mics and recorded their own.
How many of you would say this is the first records you heard from the band before listening to their earlier works?
Happy 41st Birthday to "A Farewell to Kings"!!!
