Written by on March 12, 2019

March 10, 1964: Simon and Garfunkel recorded the song "The Sound Of Silence"' at Columbia Studios in New York. It would be included on their October 1964 debut album "Wednesday Morning At 3:00" but the album would flop and the duo would break up.

However, "The Sound of Silence" would soon be played on radio stations around the country. With its growing airplay, Tom Wilson, the song's producer, would go on to remix the track, overdubbing electric instrumentation with the same Wrecking Crew musicians who backed Bob Dylan on "Like a Rolling Stone".

Simon and Garfunkel were not informed of the song's remix until after its release as a single in September 1965. It would go to #1 on the Billboard charts in January 1966 and Simon and Garfunkel would reunite.
