The Beatles – Revolution

Written by on September 5, 2019

September 4, 1968: The Beatles spent the day filming promotional videos for their current single, "Hey Jude" and "Revolution" at Twickenham Film Studios in London. The vocals were recorded live over the pre-recorded instrumental tracks (with session man Nicky Hopkins on piano) to get past the current British Musicians Union ban on lip-synced performances. Ringo had quit the band two weeks earlier and had rejoined the group just the day before.

The "Hey Jude" clip would debut on David Frost's television program later in the month, while "Revolution" was first broadcast on Top of the Pops on September 19, 1968.
