June 4, 1964: The Beatles began their first world tour with concerts in the Netherlands.
Here they are: John, Paul, George and…Jimmie!

Due to a sudden attack of tonsillitis the day before, Ringo was in hospital and would miss the first ten days of the tour. Much to the band's dismay, manager Brian Epstein decided not to cancel any dates and found a stand-in for Ringo. Session drummer Jimmie Nicol was literally a last minute replacement; he learned the songs the day before they left for the Netherlands and wore Ringo's suits onstage.
