July 5, 1966: At the suggestion of Keith Richards’ girlfriend, Chas Chandler of The Animals attended a Jimmy Hendrix concert at Café Wha? in New York City. Chandler was so impressed that he suggested to Hendrix that he should move to the UK. Jimmy would do that; Chandler would quit The Animals and become Hendrix's manager. Once there, Chandler would suggest that he change the spelling of his name to "Jimi" and would help Hendrix form his band, The Experience.
