The Beatles – Please please me

November 26, 1962: The Beatles recorded “Please Please Me” at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London. Under the direction of producer George Martin, who told the band that their original, slower, Roy Orbison-styleSee More version was “too bloody boring for words,” the song was re-arranged to be an up-tempo rocker. When its released in January 1963 it would rise to #2 on the UK charts.

Although the song was also released by Vee Jay Records in the US, it wouldn’t chart at all. It would be re-released by Capitol Records during Beatlemania a year later, where it would go to #3 on the US charts.
