July 12, 1962: The Rollin’ Stones made their live debut at the Marquee Club in London. The band was Mick Jagger on vocals with Keith Richards and Brian Jones on guitar, Ian Stewart on piano, Dick Taylor on bass and Tony Chapman on drums. They played a set of Chicago blues standards, as well as some Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley songs.
Bill Wyman would replace Taylor on bass in December 1962 and Charlie Watts would become the Stones’ drummer in early 1963. Dick Taylor would go on to start The Pretty Things later in the year.
