July 25, 1979: Two years after it was released in the UK, the Clash’s debut album is FINALLY released in the States by Epic Records. The UK version actually sold well in the US as an import but Epic released a modified version of the album for the United States market. This version replaced four songs from the original version with five non-album singles and B-sides, some of which were recorded and released after the Clash’s second studio album, “Give ‘Em Enough Rope” (released in 1978). It also used a re-recorded single version of “White Riot”, rather than the original take featured on the UK version. It would peak at #126 on the Billboard 200 album chart. B
