The Beatles – Hey Jude

Written by on September 4, 2021

September 4, 1968: In the middle of the sessions for the White Album, the Beatles spent the day filming promotional videos for “Hey Jude” and “Revolution” at Twickenham Film Studios in London. The vocals were recorded live over the pre-recorded instrumental tracks to get past the current British Musicians Union ban on lip-sync performances. Ringo had quit the band two weeks earlier, but had rejoined the group just the day before.

David Frost also taped his introduction for the “Hey Jude” clip; it would debut on his television program later in the month, while “Revolution” would first be broadcast on Top of the Pops on September 19, 1968.
