3 Oct 1954, born on this day, American musician, singer, songwriter, guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was one of the most influential guitarists in the revival of blues in the 1980s. Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash on August 27th 1990 age 35. His family successfully sued the operators of the company for allowing an unqualified pilot to fly in fog and were awarded $2 million (£1.2 million).
