October 30, 1978: Blondie released the song “Hanging on the Telephone” as the second single from their album “Parallel Lines.” Written by Jack Lee from the Power Pop trio, The Nerves, the song gave Blondie their first UK Top Ten hit, peaking at #5 on the UK charts. It failed to chart in the US.
