November 8, 1980: KISS kicked off their 11 date “Unmasked” Tour of Australia and New Zealand, playing two nights at Perth Entertainment Centre. This was the band’s first tour with Eric Carr, AKA The Fox, on drums; Peter Criss had been fired earlier in the year.
Their latest album, “Unmasked” peaked at #35 on the US charts, the worst chart position for the group since “Hotter Than Hell” in 1974, and it was the first KISS album to not go Platinum since “Destroyer” in 1976. Because the album was more successful in other countries, the band decided to take a break from touring the United States; after Australia they toured England, New Zealand, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, and Italy.
