Filmed on December 13, 2025 at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California during the debut performance of Bush‘s “Celebrating The Songs Of Anthrax” show, the video showcases John with his CATEGORY 7 bandmates Phil Demmel (guitar),Mike Orlando (guitar) and Jason Bittner (drums),along with his longtime ARMORED SAINT partner and best friend Joey Vera on bass (CATEGORY 7 bassist Jack Gibson had a schedule conflict and was unable to make the gig). CATEGORY 7 also opened the show before returning as John‘s backing band for the ANTHRAX material. Bush performed songs spanning all four albums he recorded with the band: “Sound Of White Noise”, “Stomp 442”, “Volume 8: The Threat Is Real” and “We’ve Come For You All”.

Comments John: “Stoked to release this song from the first show I did in my hometown of Los Angeles celebrating the songs from my era in ANTHRAX. Can’t wait to play this song as well as many others from the four records I made with them at the Milwaukee Metal Fest.”

“Let There Be Shred” is taken from MEGADETH‘s final, self-titled studio album which came out in January. The track sees MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine reflect on how, “On the day I was born, a guitar in my hands / The earth started rumbling a thunderous command…”

Dave elaborated in a statement about “Let There Be Shred”: “When MEGADETH started, we said we would be fast and furious… we said so on the flyers we handed out. This song is fast and furious… It has a very hooky chorus that draws you in and you can’t help but play air guitar and headbang to this one.”

In an interview with Guitar World magazine, Mustaine said about “Let There Be Shred”: “Teemu [Mäntysaari, MEGADETH guitarist] is such an exceptional talent that he really lit a fire in me for my playing. We were joking around and constantly talking about how we have to make this record absolutely shred and that we needed to put a lot of solos in it. I think we accomplished that.

Smith originally wrote “Wasted Years” for MAIDEN‘s 1986 album “Somewhere In Time”. He told U.K.’s Total Guitar magazine about how the track came together: “I was messing around with a little four-track and I’d just put that riff down for ‘Wasted Years’. I was playing Steve [Harris, MAIDEN bassist] some other stuff and I played it to him by accident and he said, ‘What’s that?’ I said, ‘You probably won’t like this as it’s so commercial,’ but he really liked it and insisted we do it. So something you’d think he wouldn’t want to do, he does. But I do like to sit down and visualize us doing different things. Obviously, we can’t do anything too drastic, but whatever works, really.”
